Book Ethan to speak!
The construction industry makes up just 7% of the workforce, yet accounts for nearly 20% of all suicide deaths.
Men in construction are 10 times more likely to die by suicide than workers in other industries.
We have strong systems for physical safety. But an invisible threat is taking lives: mental health challenges.
This isn’t just about numbers. It’s about people, morale, and the safety culture you’ve worked hard to build.
Suicide by Industry
That’s why I created “Hope in Hard Hats.”
It’s a presentation built specifically for men in construction: real, relatable, and grounded in lived experience.
I come from three generations of construction workers and in 2022 I lost my 16-year-old brother to suicide. That loss led me to leave the trades and become a clinical social worker, where I now help men navigate the same struggles my family faced.
Your team will walk away with:
Real-world tools to recognize when a coworker is struggling
Actionable steps to create psychological safety on every job site
A powerful story that reframes vulnerability as strength

“It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing to recommend Ethan Getchell for your Suicide Prevention advocacy! Here at Clark Contracting Services we were introduced to Ethan through another organization who had heard about his mental health advocacy, therapy, and public speaking. Ethan was able to leverage his unique background and personal story and tailor is specifically to the Construction Industry and Men in particular who unfortunately hold the lead for death by suicide statistics.
Ethan's personal story and experience in Construction had a serious and profound impact with our Team. His speech was a turning point for our Organization and demonstrated help is out there.
Please select Ethan for your next event, you will not regret it.”
